BIOGRAPHY
The firm’s principal, Timothy A. Shimko, was admitted to the bar in Ohio in 1976, Mr. Shimko obtained his undergraduate degree from Boston College, where he graduated
magna cum laude in 1973. While at the University of Akron School of Law, Mr. Shimko
wrote for and served as the Research Editor for the University of Akron Law Review.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Shimko entered private practice with the Akron, Ohio law firm of Blakemore, Rosen & Norris.
One of the first cases he worked on as a lawyer was the civil trial and appeal that arose out of the shootings at Kent State University on May 4th 1970. In 1979, Mr. Shimko
was asked to join the Cleveland, Ohio trial firm of Spangenberg, Shibley, Traci & Lancione,
where he became a partner in 1984.
By the time Mr. Shimko started his own firm in 1988, he had litigated well over a thousand cases and had tried
to verdict well over a hundred civil cases. Throughout his career, Mr. Shimko has successfully litigated commercial, contract, employment, lender liability, medical malpractice,
negligence, product liability, and securities cases for his clients. Over the span of his career, he has recovered over $200 million in settlements
and verdicts for his clients. He has also successfully defended scores of companies and individuals that have found themselves on the receiving
end of a lawsuit.
Mr. Shimko has been named by Martindale & Hubbell as one of the countries Preeminent Lawyers. For the years 2001 and 2002, he was honored to be named one of Northeast Ohio’s best 100 lawyers by Inside Business Magazine. In the past, he has lectured extensively to groups of lawyers and business groups on a variety of legal issues.
